Easter Magic at 1911
Easter is all about magical memories of childhood, family, food and fun. This Easter Sunday head to 1911 at The Imperial Hotel to relive those traditional family moments. - says Poonam Thapa
The pre Easter luncheon at the iconic 1911 at the Imperial was all about the special magic that Easter ushers in. We were invited by Chef Prem K. Pogakula and their wonderful marketing team to sample the traditional and Exotic Easter Fare . Easter bunnies and colourful Easter eggs on the table set the mood for a comforting and happy space. Since I had got quite delayed due to a messy traffic, I decided to skip the soup. As the Mulled wine was poured out, I decided to take just the customary sip since I am a bit unsure about drinking during lunch hours.
However, the wine was so amazing and flavoursome, with a striking hint of cinnamon, that I changed my mind and went ahead for a second glass. The Chicken Cafreal , one among my favourites, that was served, was wonderfully tender with the flavour of the garlic, ginger, clove and cinnamon blended in a perfect way without being overpowering making it a merry treat to the tastebuds. Served with Herb Rice, it made for a perfect companion to my glass of wine. The Hunter style Irish Stew, which was next, was done deliciously in white wine and thyme with the goodness of herbs and green veggies making it a brilliant dish which I will surely recommend.
A must try is the Torta Pascualina with Cherry Tomato Confit as are the Mediterranean Grilled Vegetable lasagna and Four cheese Gnocchi Gratin which I had to refrain as I wanted to relish the deserts. They were divine indulgences which I sinfully gorged on each of them right from the Rum soaked Donut, the Mexican Capirotada, the luscious Carrot Cake to the Hot Chocolate .The Hot Chocolate with a twist of chillies and star aniseed ended the meal with a wonderful highlight.
Chef Prem has managed the tricky task of crafting a fine balance of the exotic as well as something that is traditional and comforting cuisine. Stirred and served with warmth, festive cheer and love, it is a wonderful spread to be shared on a magical Easter Sunday with your family in this legendary and elegant restaurant.
You can also take your pick from a variety of Easter goodies and baskets for your loved ones that is available at the La Baguette.
