Inspired by the spirit of the Beat generation, the original downtown rebels, who resided in Greenwich Village during the mid 1950’s to the early 1960’s, Judith Leiber Couture recently launched their new collection of crystal clutches.

Novelty bags, a Judith Leiber staple, are fun this season. The cat minaudière has been transformed him into a ‘Kool Kat’ with sunglasses, a turtleneck and a beret. There is also a brand new Chihuahua dog encrusted in crystal. The skins collection, crafted mainly from water snake, is innately cool in a palette of neutrals, black and British racing green.

The  capsule collection pays homage to screen goddess Marilyn Monroe. In a palette of cherry red, fuschia and black, her legendary presence radiates through crystal bags adorned with the bombshell’s portrait, her pout, stiletto heels and even a ribbon inspired by her iconic satin dress. Monroe’s romantic essence comes through in crystal heart minaudières, a magenta satin bow bag and both lipstick and sports car-shaped pillboxes. A new novelty bag in the shape of a vintage camera is the perfect finale to a collection designed with the world’s most recognized blonde in mind.
