5 Winter Warming Spa Treatments

Spas are not just for pampering. The winter cold can be harsh and lead to dehydration, formation of fine lines and loss of moisture and nutrients from the body. Winter warming spa therapies can help you deal with the harsh climate and rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.

Here are 5 reasons why you should not give the spa a miss this winter:

Relieves allergies:  Winters brings in challenges like low immunity, an increase in respiratory allergies and recurring bouts of asthma. Massages and sauna can help ease congestion and enable easier breathing which can be helpful during winter time when colds and flu are common.

Soothes the sinus -: Sinus infections are common during winters, primarily due to low moisture in the air, hot blowers, strong smell, which further aggravates the condition. There are several therapies available that use the properties of essential oils massaged to stimulate certain acupressure points to control the symptoms. The lymphatic drainage massage of the face helps relieve sinus nodes, and is a sure shot way of getting back to breathing effortlessly.

Improves blood circulation and relieves pain & stiffness: Chilblain (painful inflammation of small blood vessels in your skin due to exposure to common cold) is a common circulatory issue in winters. Therapies like deep tissue massage, swedish massage, deep muscle therapy and manual lymphatic drainage works to relieve the restriction of the circulatory flow in the entire body, hence, relaxing the tissues and   improving overall health. You can also indulge in potali massage, done with warm herbal potalis stuffed with ayurvedic herbs. This massage acts as a great muscle relaxant and has therapeutic benefits for all kinds of joint pains and stiffness.

Get the glow, the stone way: Glowing and healthy skin is a deep desire for everyone, especially in winters when the skin tends to be dry, dehydrated and lifeless.  Spa services like geo thermo therapies can prove to be beneficial. This procedure utilizes hot lava stones for a massage – this helps deep penetration of the massage pressure in the deeper layers of the tissue. The effect of this ensures that more oxygen and nutrients are received by the skin cells while at the same time the toxins are removed.

Perk-up with body wraps: Lack of sunlight can make you feel dull, dry and not in the best of moods. A spa treatment can bring back life to your skin and relaxation to your mind and body. A body wrap combined with a sauna session will prove beneficial for deep hydration, proper absorption of creams, lotions, oils etc, and soothing sore muscles, uplifting mood, flushing out toxins out of your system.

So go ahead, book a spa to pamper yourself in the much needed “me” time and enjoy the weather with peace and indulgence.
