Quirky and fluid -Gucci Pre-Fall 2016
The Gucci Pre-Fall 2016 collection will make you go back and forth to take a closer look at the images that is staring at you and then back and forth again. There is an artistic quirkiness in the carefully put together ensembles that may look like taken from your grandmother's closet, reminding you of a great painter of a bygone era but take a closer look and you will see the contemporary with the antique blended so easily and with a fluidity that gets to you. You can combine the different pieces to give a look that you want, mix and match it the way you think the best - playful, flirty, serious, the elegant luxe look or even the sexy chic librarian, whichever way you want to dress yourself they will linger for a long time in the mind of a viewer.
Gucci Pre Fall collection glorifies the creations with wide range of themes and motifs. Alessandro Michele, creative director continues to reshape the brand’s image with a collection that is surreal, beautiful and regal. Michele didn’t invent new shapes but explore the decorative possibilities of women’s fashion staples.
The collection read as a cohesive continuum with Michele’s previous seasons, a testament to fluid creative flair that he seems to possess. The intuitive, emotional interpretation of historic and intellectual references was apparent in Michele’s and artist Ari Marcopoulos who shot the lookbook. It was inspired by a Pompeian villa, shrouded in a nocturnal atmosphere reminiscent of Flemish painting that was rendered decadent, yet sleek with his ultra sharp use of lightning.
A mini skirt came in metallic leather. Bomber jackets were done in patchwork silk and satin in various patterns, and then decorated with Lurex details that featured Gucci’s signature striped Web motif. Printed shirt dresses came in retro inspired graphics and botanical motifs. The inspiration for this collection comes from nature as animals like tigers and snakes; wild flowers and butterflies were use on embroidered dresses, knits and even on denim. It’s a collection which cries casual meets hyper-luxe. It has everything from mink coats printed with hearts, moons, stars and stripes. Opulent floral jacquard coats trimmed with fur and colourful chopped jackets and capes.
