Suneet Varma’s Dream Couture Collection
Couturier Suneet Varma is known for his beautiful Indian silhouettes and stunning embroidery. This time he showcased his first ever western couture collection at the luxury mall DLF Emporio which was was all about fine embellishment and beautiful design. For a designer who is known for his traditional Indian couture, it was a big lap to go all western.
The collection had influences from his formative years in Europe and from Hollywood glamour. The collections of 35 gowns showcased at the beautiful evening were created to be light, airy and very young looking in fabrics such as the silk taffeta, two toned chiffons, stretch silk jersey and laces that came all the way from China, Italy and France. The surface treatment ranged from minimal tone on tone brads to ruffled silk flowers.
The collection also included gowns using Swarovski crystal fine mesh making Suneet the first Indian designer to use this new product by Swarovski launched first on the Atelier Versace Fall/Winter 2014 Haute Couture catwalk in Paris.
Sought by designers, creators, and innovators throughout the world of design, this exquisite trend has sparkled in the creations of some of the most cutting-edge talents of the 21st century, including Hussein Chalayan, Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Kane.
For this collection Suneet has collaborated with the fine jewellery label Diacolour. A signature piece from Diacolour perfectly showcases that the brand's unique essence was a pair of earrings patterned to resemble a bunch of grapes, carrying 105 carats of briolette cut diamonds and strung together in 18 carat of white gold.
Suneet's collection was made to match the colour palette of the beautiful jewels of Diacolour. The gowns were of bright reds inspired by rubies, deep blue to go with sapphires and blue diamonds, and pastels to match pink and yellow diamonds.
Among the models who walked the ramp and presented the beautiful gowns to well known fashionistas of the capital were Princess Mriganka of Jammu & Kashmir, Mohini Boparia Guleria of Exclusively.com, Artist Blanca Peralta, Deepti J Verma, Rhea Madaan, Stuti Dixit and Latika Khaneja. They all represent modern Indian women who are successful, fashionable and fun loving.
